Regulations: the official sources

We link out, we never summarize the law. These are the only sources that count.

DFO recreational fishing - PacificTidal/saltwater rules, salmon, licences, area maps. DFO fishery noticesMid-season openings, closures and limit changes. B.C. freshwater regulationsProvincial rules for non-tidal waters. B.C. fish stocking queryStocking records by waterbody.

Our promise: every regulation-related item on TightLinesBC links to the official source and carries a check-it-yourself note. If we ever show a date, area or limit, treat it as a pointer - the DFO and provincial pages above are the law.

Check the regs yourself before you fish. Openings, closures and limits change without notice, sometimes mid-season and area by area. Everything here is an aggregation for convenience, not an official source. Always confirm the current rules for your specific management area directly with Fisheries and Oceans Canada (saltwater / salmon) and the B.C. Freshwater Fishing Regulations before you go.
